Sugargoo Shipping Weight Calculator

Compare actual weight with volumetric weight and see which value is likely to drive chargeable weight for planning.

Use the divisor shown by your current shipping route or carrier.

Presets are common industry references. Sugargoo public shipping notes describe line-specific divisors (for example 5000 or 6000). They are not a single official fixed formula for every route.

Actual weight
Volumetric weight
Estimated chargeable weight

Chargeable weight is estimated as the greater of actual and volumetric weight. Final warehouse or carrier calculations may differ.

Worked example

A compact parcel where size outweighs scale weight. Volumetric weight estimates how much space the box occupies; some routes bill using the larger applicable value.

Actual weight
2 kg
Package size
50 × 40 × 30 cm
Divisor
6000 (example only)
Volume
50 × 40 × 30 = 60,000 cm³
Volumetric weight
60,000 ÷ 6000 = 10 kg
Estimated chargeable weight
10 kg (greater of 2 kg actual and 10 kg volumetric)

Example only. Use the divisor shown for your current route or carrier. This is not a live Sugargoo shipping quote.

How to interpret the result

Actual weight is what the packed parcel weighs on a scale. Volumetric weightconverts outer dimensions into a billing figure using your chosen divisor. Estimated chargeable weight is the larger of the two for planning—many international lines use a similar “greater of” approach, but carrier rules vary.

If volumetric weight exceeds actual weight, bulky packaging or large shoe boxes may be driving cost even when the item feels light. For a deeper explanation, read thevolumetric weight guide.

Limitations

  • Divisors are user-entered; Sugargoo does not use one universal divisor for every route.
  • This tool does not calculate shipping prices or rank routes.
  • Packaging, rounding, and restriction rules can change the billed result.
  • Confirm with current Sugargoo account estimates before you pay to ship.
